UGH. PLEASE WATCH THE HD VERSION. THE SOUND AND PICTURE IS MUCH BETTER. Hopefully, this is the LAST time i have to upload this. Finding a good compression for youtube is not always so cut and dry. The picture looks good enough, but the audio sucks in the standard youtube version. once again, please watch the HD version. This is something i had plans to run with, but i've laid it to the ages and decided to work on something better. It was shot with the Nikon D3 using a 28mm f1.8 lens, the camera set on the continuous high burst setting. i was going to continue this... make it longer... loop it... give it a homemade soundtrack... but, like i said... i feel like i have other stuff to work on. besides, if i want too, i can always come back to it. The color correction was a bitch with this... the files were all ".tiff," so i had to wait until i got a compressed version to color correct it. I also sort of chalk this up to a learning experience, since i taught myself how to use Apple Automator to edit the stills in the timeline. I still can't get that program to automatically repeat the actions... I also think i want to shoot a short narrative with a similar camera... I like this technique. Chicago to SFO

An interval photographic sequence taken during parts of a 54 hour train ride from Chicago to San Francisco. The images here show me leaving Chicago and traveling across the Midwest, up into and over the Rockies West of SLC, then further west through Grand Junction, on to the Sierras, Truckee, Donner Pass and Immigrant Lake before ending close to Lake Tahoe. These were shot on a Nikon D3 with a 28mm F/1.4 lens
